News : The Quad Core Xperia Tablet "Z" featuring awesome specs.

Sunday, 20 January 2013

Sony’s latest Android tablet features a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and a 1920 x 1200 pixel display. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z also packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and an 8MP camera.
In other words, it’s a pretty big upgrade over the Sony Xperia Tablet S, which the company launched less than half a year ago.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z
The new tablet also features a waterproof and dustproof case, a microSD card slot for extra storage, NFC, and support for 4G LTE.
The Android 4.1 tablet measures just 0.27 inches thick and weighs 1.1 pounds. Unlike Sony’s earlier Android tablets, which had 9.4 inch screen, the Xperia Table Z has a 10.1 inch display, which makes the size and weight even more impressive.
Sony hasn’t yet announced the price or release date for the new tablet, but with the Xperia Tablet S still selling for about $400 even though it has a slower processor, less memory, and a lower resolution display, I wouldn’t expect the Sony Xperia Tablet Z to be a low-cost tablet.

Official image of the upcoming Sony Xperia Z (Yuga) leaks

Tuesday, 1 January 2013

2012 is gone and Sony is gearing up to announce its flagship Android phones for the new year. Two official images managed to slip through the cracks before the January 7 press conference, those of the Sony Xperia Z and the Xperia Odin.
Both images are hosted on SonyMobile.com and in the case of the Xperia Z, the image filename confirms the name (the phone used to be known by its ‘Yuga’ codename).
The Sony Xperia Z will enter the arena with other phones with 5” 1080p screens this year but it also puts Sony into the quad-core race with its Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset. The Z will come out with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean at launch.
The Xperia Z packs a 12MP camera, which reportedly performs better than the 13MP shooter on the Xperia T. There's a dedicated shutter key.
We found out a lot more details about it from the early preview of a pre-production unit.

Leaks : Sony ‘Yuga’ C660X gets extensive preview ahead of announcement

Tuesday, 18 December 2012

Mobile-Review has done it again, detailing a significant preview of an as-yet unreleased Sony Xperia handset. Their preview of the Sony C660X (C6603) ‘Yuga’ leaves no stone uncovered as it reveals pretty much everything about the handset, however it’s worth noting that this preview is based on a prototype.
First of all, let’s talk specs. The Yuga has a 5-inch 1080p display that will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset (APQ8064 & MDM9615) with 1.5GHz quad-core processor and Adreno 320 GPU. It will come with 2GB RAM, a microSD memory card slot (we’re not sure what internal storage this has, if any), LTE and a 13MP camera. The prototype previewed was running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.

News : Sony Yuga (C660X): A couple more photos unveiled

Sunday, 16 December 2012

Russian site Mobile-Review has revealed a couple of photos of the upcoming Sony Yuga (C6603). It doesn’t reveal anything new as we had already seen some leaked photos of the handset a while back. However, author Eldar Murtazin, normally known for his disdain of Sony Mobile products has sung the praises of the prototype Yuga.
“Each technological revolution leads to a totally fantastic device that we could not ask for a few more decades,” Eldar says (translated). He goes on to say that the large dispolay and powerful Qualcomm chipset “makes a fabulous combination”. His main criticism comes in the form of how hot the handset can become, “warm as a stove” is how the author describes it. Hopefully, we’ll hear more on the handset in the coming weeks.

“Xperia Diagnostics” trademarked; app on the way

The European patent office has trademarked a new term from Sony Mobile: Xperia Diagnostics. The description of the listing says that it is “downloadable software in the nature of a mobile application”. We’re not entirely sure exactly what purpose the app will serve, but it will probably be some kind of systems and maintenance app as the name suggests. Perhaps we’ll hear more of this at CES next month.

News : Xperia Yuga to have Exynos 5 Quad chipset, 5" OLED display?

Thursday, 13 December 2012

This probably comes from the "if only" sections of the rumor mill, but a rumor about Sony's upcoming flagship, the C660X Yuga, promises that the Japanese company will deliver on its promise to release a phone to compete with the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S III in a big way.
According to a poster in the IT168 forums, the Sony C660X Yuga will pack a Samsung Exynos 5 Quad chipset (marking a move away from Qualcomm), 3GB of RAM and a 16MP camera, all behind a 5" OLED display of 1080p resolution. The rumor further suggests there will be 128GB of built-in storage, a 3000mAh battery, plus water and dust resistance and an IR port.
Now, there is some credibility to this rumor. The Samsung Galaxy S IV is also rumored to use an Exynos 5 Quad chipset. And a 5" 1080p display is quite probable, considering other companies are already launching phones with such screens. The Sony Xperia V is water and dust proof, the Xperia Tablet S has an IR port for remote control functions and so on.
But then reality steps in - a quad-core A15 processor might be a bit much, even for a 3000mAh battery, and not to mention that Sony doesn’t usually use the biggest batteries and has never made a phone with an OLED display. Also, earlier leaks suggest that the Yuga will use a 12MP camera.
A different rumor all together is that the phone will have a glass back a la iPhone 4/4S and the Nexus 4. That's not out of the question - we still haven’t had a clear look at the Yuga's back as all the spy shots are quite dark.
Well, Sony is supposed to bring its next flagship at CES and MWC, so it will take a little patience but we'll know the Yuga's specs soon enough.

News : Sony’s 2013 flagship will have a glass-back, is this a deal-breaker for you?

Tuesday, 11 December 2012

Sony Mobile’s new flagship to be launched during Q1 2013 is expected to have a glass front and back. This is pretty much a given for the handset codenamed Yuga (C660X). We have this confirmed by our own sources, along with the photo leaks a while back. The question we have today is how much of a hindrance is this for you?
The most popular example of a phone with a glass back is the Apple iPhone 4/4S and there’s no denying that it had abnormally high faults related to people cracking the back of the phone. There’s a good reason why phones don’t normally come with glass backs and that comes down to practicality. Knowing a phone has a glass back means placing it down that much more carefully and probably means a case or bumper is an essential accessory for many.
We’ve started to hear similar stories over the LG Nexus 4. Reports suggest that placing the handset on a cold surface, such as a kitchen granite surface, can cause the glass to crack after it has been held in a warm hand. There’s no denying that it gives the handset a premium look, but in your view is the aesthetics worth what you end up losing in terms of practicality? Or does it not bother you since you use a case for your phone anyway? We’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments below.
