Leaks : Meizu MX2 images leak ahead of official announcement

Meizu is all set to announce the successor to the Meizu MX later this month but before we get the official announcement, a couple of hands-on images of the phone have been leaked.

The new phone ditches the iPhone-like design to a, well, less iPhone-like design. Gone are the physical controls below the display, which have been replaced by the now standard on-screen Android navigation controls.

The display aspect ratio is also visibly different. Meizu stuck with the 3:2 960 x 640 resolution (that Apple uses for the iPhone) for their past two models and it has now been chucked in favor of what looks like 1280 x 768.

The phone supposedly runs on a quad-core processor and will have Meizu's Flyme skin on top of Android (hopefully Jelly Bean).

The device will officially be announced in China on November 27.

Meizu MX quad-core and MX dual-core has FlymeOS firmware update

Flyme OS for Meizu MX quad-core (M032) and the new MX dual-core (M031) has been updated to the Flyme1.0.3 and now those firmware officially available for download via OTA Push update.

Based on Flyme 1.0.1 updated to 1.0.3 is targeted for optimization and upgrading of further enhance the system stability, and optimize streaming media playback system functions. And the update is available via OTA with Push mode.

Flyme for MX dual-core (M030), M9 updated version will soon be completed to optimize the update, please refer to the follow-up release of the announcement.

1) before the upgrade, please backup mobile data Flyme account Flyme 1.0.3 prohibit the use of local recovery;

2) Hong Kong, or the PCCW customized version of the MX upgrade the the Mainland MX machine firmware, may result in the application data is not compatible.

News New iPhone to supposedly feature quad-core CPU based on Exynos 4

HTC, Samsung, LG and Meizu are among the big-name manufacturers to release quad-core smartphones during this year, and it seems like Apple will be putting its name on that list.

Rumors abound that the upcoming new iPhone will feature a quad-core A6 processor produced by Samsung, which will essentially be a modified quad-core Exynos 4 series chip.

Like ZTE and Huawei, however, it seems like Apple are planning to wait until the second half of the year to release its device, just before the holiday shopping season begins.

Qualcomm will be adding fuel to a quad-core fire of their own with their upcoming APQ8064A chipset, which will integrate an LTE radio and the Adreno 320 GPU all into a 28nm process. Expect these impressive Snapdragons to also hit the shelves around Q4 of this year.

News : Meizu MX Quad-core with Android 4.0 coming June 30th

The Meizu MX Quad-core, a more powerful version of the MX from earlier this year, has been slated for release on June 30th.The Quad-core has the 4-inch 960 x 640 display and 8-megapixel camera of the original MX, but it comes with 32 or 64GB of storage instead of 16GB and a quad-core Samsung Exynos processor that Meizu promises is 60 percent faster than that of the MX. We previously heard it would be priced at ¥2,999 ($475) and ¥3,999 ($633) for 32GB and 64GB respectively in Hong Kong, but Meizu says more updates will be forthcoming soon.
Besides the more powerful hardware, one of the selling points of the MX Quad-core is Flyme OS 1.0, a custom skin based on Android 4.0. The new version of Flyme adds a phone-finding service and cloud storage in addition to standard Ice Cream Sandwich updates. Owners of the MX and the older M9, meanwhile, will be waiting a little longer for Flyme OS 1.0. The update was originally promised in June, but it's now been pushed back until mid-July at the earliest, apparently because of software development issues.

News:Meizu App Center reaches 200 million downloads milestone

Meizu has just announced their own App Center has passed the 200 million downloads mark. This happens only three months after the 100 million milestone was reached.

The Meizu App Center is available on all the latest Meizu smartphones including the MX and MX quad-core.

Both the Meizu MX and MX quad-core are already running on Android 4.0 ICS-based operating systems, but since most of their sales are in China, they don’t have access to the Google Play Store. It seems though, that Meizu’s own store is quite attractive for the users and at least partially makes up for that.
