Grand Theft Auto: Vice City coming to Android and iOS early next month

In celebration of the 10 year anniversary of 80′s style car thievery and gunplay, Rockstar is re-releasing Grand Theft Audo: Vice City for Android and iOS on December 6th.

It seems like just yesterday we were busy rolling through Miami on a killing spree to the tune of Roxette.

The 10th Anniversary Edition features native high-res graphics for mobile devices, updated character models and lighting effects, fully customizable controls, and precision targeting and firing options.

How iOS 6 apps would look like on a taller display

We’ve heard a wide variety of sources claim that the upcoming iPhone will feature a larger display, and today we can add one more to the list.
We rarely cover about iOS news but this another shoot that make us distract toward it

When put through an iOS simulator at a resolution of 1136 x 640 (the rumored resolution of the iPhone 5), many iOS 6 apps scale perfectly to the new size, revealing interfaces which have been tweaked and optimized for the different aspect ratio.

The upcoming iPhone 5 (if that’s what it’ll be called), is rumored to feature a screen size which will measure just above the 4 inch mark, and will supposedly also have a new aspect ratio of 16:9. Above, you can see how the iOS 6 homescreen scales to support 20 icons (not counting the dock), while the current iPhone only supports 16.

Here’s how the Apple keyboard gets scaled in landscape mode.

While many of the iOS 6 apps appear to make good use of the new resolution, there are a number of legacy apps, which have letterboxing along the top and bottom. Whether Apple plan to revamp these apps before release, or figure out a way to rescale legacy iPhone apps remains to be seen. This will be especially important to app developers, who might be forced to release rescaled versions of their apps if Apple does not scale them automatically in the new iPhone.

Another feature spotted in the latest iOS 6 beta is the ability to use a cellular data network to supplement a spotty WiFi connection. The new feature, called ‘Wi-Fi Plus Cellular’, is accessed through Settings->General->Cellular and allows your data network to be used to compensate for a bad connection. This can be especially useful for when you’re on a busy WiFi hotspot, or simply have a weak signal.

Whether or not this is what Apple end up using on the iPhone 5, we’ll hopefully find out in just over a month.

CineXPlayer for iPad adds split-screen mode (web surf while watching videos)

CineXPlayer was one of the first media players for iOS to support Xvid and other file formats that the default iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch video apps can’t handle. These days media players for iOS are a dime a dozen, but CineXPlayer has added a few new features to help justify its $3.99 price tag.
The first is a new multiscreen mode that lets you use half of your iPad’s screen to watch a video and the other half to surf the web at the same time.

The split-screen view only works in portrait orientation, but I can’t really imagine why you’d want to use it in landscape mode anyway.
This is sort of like a feature Samsung is rolling out with its software for theSamsung Galaxy S III smartphone that lets you keep a small video window on top of other apps so you can keep watching while performing other activities. But the CineXPlayer solution looks a lot better since it keeps the web browser and video player in separate portions of the screen so that neither is ever on top of the other.
Another new feature in CineXPlayer 2.8 include an IMDB button that allows you to look up information about the movie you’re watching in a pop-up window.
CineXPlayer 2.8 also lets you transfer movies over WiFi, view or share movies over a WiFi network, or load movies using a web browser over WiFi. There’s also a new shuffle playback mode which could come in handy if you’re playing music videos, a video downloader for grabbing movies from the web, and a screenshot feature that lets you save pictures from a movie to your camera roll.

Or at least hoped it will. Siri has now been ported to the iPhone 4, but, alas, this is no official Apple undertaking, but the work of Chinese hackers from “CD-Team.” The best part about it is that it works and is available on the iPhone 4 and iPod touch 4G, so be warned that trying it on an older device like the iPhone 3GS is just a waste of time.
