The HTC Mini is a Phone That Comes With the HTC Butterfly in China

Friday, 25 January 2013

Your phablet is getting so unruly that you need a companion device in order to properly tame it, according to HTC. To ease your pain, to give your tired hands a rest, why not pair an NFC/Bluetooth-enabled sidekick so you can USE YOUR PHONE WITHOUT ACTUALLY USING IT. A secondary device you need to carry and charge and keep track of. It’s like buying a car that comes with a bicycle.
The HTC Mini is an additional device—one you don’t need, ever—that’s being bundled with the 5-inch Butterfly in China. You can make calls on it, see notifications, calendar entries and more. Just like on your phone. So instead of looking at the Butterfly’s big, beautiful 1080p face, users have to squint into a tiny square on a device that looks like a portable landline phone. Because why not?
Not only is the HTC Mini a phone for a phone, but it’s also a remote for the Butterfly when it’s tethered to a TV. Also, it has an embedded “Find My Butterfly” type feature, just in case you misplace your 5-inch smartphone that you probably already have firmly grasped in your hand. And it’s a shutter trigger for the Butterfly’s camera. Of course it is.
If you want the equivalent of a Matryoshka doll for smartphones, simply purchase the Butterfly in China and you’ll get two devices for the price of one. Because when you have a 5-inch device—one that I would assume you’re more than comfortable using seeing as you spent money on it—you definitely need a baby device to go with it, right?
It’s more fun to carry around two devices. Redundant doesn’t even begin to explain the HTC Mini.

News : The Quad Core Xperia Tablet "Z" featuring awesome specs.

Sunday, 20 January 2013

Sony’s latest Android tablet features a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and a 1920 x 1200 pixel display. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z also packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and an 8MP camera.
In other words, it’s a pretty big upgrade over the Sony Xperia Tablet S, which the company launched less than half a year ago.
Sony Xperia Tablet Z
The new tablet also features a waterproof and dustproof case, a microSD card slot for extra storage, NFC, and support for 4G LTE.
The Android 4.1 tablet measures just 0.27 inches thick and weighs 1.1 pounds. Unlike Sony’s earlier Android tablets, which had 9.4 inch screen, the Xperia Table Z has a 10.1 inch display, which makes the size and weight even more impressive.
Sony hasn’t yet announced the price or release date for the new tablet, but with the Xperia Tablet S still selling for about $400 even though it has a slower processor, less memory, and a lower resolution display, I wouldn’t expect the Sony Xperia Tablet Z to be a low-cost tablet.

LG F240 leaks via GLBenchmark, sports a full HD screen

Saturday, 17 November 2012

LG's answer to the 1080p screen touting HTC DROID DNA has leaked thanks to GLBenchmark's website. Codenamed the LG F240, the device is reported to sport a similarly spec'd display with a 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution.
According to its benchmark results, the LG F240 utilizes the muscle of an 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor coupled with an Adreno 320 GPU. The same raw power is found in the HTC DROID DNA, too.
Display size, RAM and internal memory have just been detailed, but the F240 has gone through the benchmarking process running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
Details are scarce at the moment, but there's a pretty high chance to witness the unveil of the device either at CES 2013 or at MWC 2013 in Barcelona. Speaking of CES 2013, Samsung is also being rumored to be working on a droid with a full HD display in time for the Consumer's Electronic Show early next year.

Google Nexus 4, Nexus 10 dissected secrets revealed (including a dormant LTE chip)

Just days after the latest Google Nexus products hit the streets, a couple of repair shops have taken apart the Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet to see what lies beneath the surface. And they’ve posted teardown guides online.
iFixit Google Nexus 4 teardown
Nexus 4 secrets
The Google Nexus 4 features a 4.7 inch screen, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and HSPA+.
But iFixit found something else hidden in the case: a 4G LTE chip.
The Nexus 4 has taken a fair share of criticism for not supporting LTE, but it looks like manufacturer LG actually left in the same wireless chip used in its Optimus G smartphone. Unfortunately it may not be connected to an antenna or power amplifier, so it’d take more than a software update to enable LTE.
Overall, iFixit gives the device a fairly high repairability score since it’s not that difficult to disassemble. But replacing the battery or screen will be more difficult than on some other phones.
Google Nexus 10 teardown
The folks at Powerbook Medic report that the Nexus 10 is pretty easy to take apart — provided you have the proper tools, including a flat tool that you can use to pry open the case without damaging it.
Google Nexus 10 Powerbook Medic teardown
Like most tablets, the Nexus 10 is primarily screen and battery on the inside. I’m always a little surprised at how small the system board is, until I remember that this sort of tablet basically has the same guts as a modern smartphone… but a larger battery to help power the larger display.

Google confirms Nexus devices sold out, expects more in “coming weeks”

Wednesday, 14 November 2012

In case it wasn’t abundantly clear by the lack of an “add to cart” button on theGoogle Nexus 4 order page, Google has sold out of the initial stock of its new smartphone in some countries. 32GB Nexus 10 tablets also seem to be hard to find, although you can still order a 16GB model in the US.
The Google Nexus team confirmed today that the company is pretty much out of stock of some devices.

Google Play Store
The good news is that more devices are on the way. The less good news is that they probably won’t be here tomorrow… or the next day. Google says the plan is to add more devices “in the coming weeks to keep up with high demand.”
In other words, demand was higher than anticipated… which isn’t necessarily a bad thing… unless you’re a customer that had been hoping to get a new phone or tablet today.
T-Mobile is also expected to offer a Nexus 4 smartphone in-stores soon, for customers that want to pay a little less up front and sign up for a 2-year contract.
The Google Nexus 4 is a phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, a 4.7 inch, 1280 x 768 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, up to 16GB of storage, and Android 4.2 software. It’s built by LG, and prices start at $299 for a model with 8GB of storage.
Google’s Nexus 10 tablet features a 10 inch, 2560 x 1600 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, and a dual core Samsung Exynos 5250 ARM Cortex-A15 processor. It’s manufactured by Samsung, and prices start at $399 for a 16GB model.

news: Sony C6603 ‘Yuga’ pictures leak

Wednesday, 7 November 2012

Sony will not be happy about this at all, but pictures of the Sony C660X (C6603) handset (codenamed Yuga) have leaked. There are seven pictures in total and everything we have been told by our sources up until now, suggest that these pictures are the real deal.
The site that has leaked the pictures, Android Schweiz, claims Yuga will come with a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, a surprising 12MP camera (we always thought 13MP Exmor RS was pretty much a dead cert) and a 5-inch 1080p display. The camera may be upgraded by the time it comes to launch though.
The Yuga comes in a unibody enclosure, therefore do not expect to be able to replace the battery. It will also be the first Sony Xperia phone to come with a glass back, similar to the iPhone 4/4S. The handset design looks elegant with a boxy shape (no arc or NXT features here) and a very thin bezel either side of the display. It has a striking chrome power button on the right side with volume rocker in the middle. A dedicated camera button is also present where you’d expect it to be.
As can be seen in the pictures below, this prototype is running Android 4.1.1, a new kernel version (3.4) as well as 10.1.A.0.XXX firmware, which we already know is Jelly Bean. It all looks like a very nice package indeed and we can’t wait to see/hear more. So, would you buy it?

News : Oppo's Find 5 flagship will pack 1080p screen with 441ppi

Sunday, 16 September 2012

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo Mobile has something amazing in the making. The company’s CEO Chen Mingyong teased the Oppo Find 5 quad-core flagship with 1080p display, sporting the mind-blowing pixel density of 441ppi.

Such pixel density puts the upcoming 5" device in an entirely different league from the current crop of top shelf smartphones. A 441ppi pixel density is roughly100ppi better than the next best smartphone and a cool 115ppi better than the Apple iPhone 5.
The rest of the Oppo Find 5 rumored specs include a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset, 2GB of RAM, 12MP camera, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and a 2500mAh battery.
The Oppo Find 5 appears a lot like that rumored 5 incher from

News : LG Optimus G coming to the US on September 19

Saturday, 15 September 2012

LG and Qualcomm sent invitations for a joint event that will be held in New York on September 19.
The invitation clearly shows that it will be all about some new smartphone and it would be a real shocker if the device in question isn't the US version of the Optimus G.
The event is called Live Without Boundaries, but that doesn't really give us much information about the nature of the smartphone to be announced. However there's still an important clue to be found on the invitation, pointing to the fact that the it's going to be quad-core Krait-powered LG Optimus G.
The LG Optimus G has already been announced for Korea so we have an official photo of it. Now if you use some image editing software to edit the invitation image and brighten up the shadows (as we did), you can see the device pictured has the same back as the Optimus G. The most telling evidence is the loudspeaker grille location and the texture on the back.
Of course it could all be merely a coincidence and LG might announce something else entirely, but chances of that happening are slim. We’ll be covering the event for you, so feel free to come back next Wednesday to find out.

Sunday, 26 August 2012

With IFA only a few days away, the LG E973 Optimus G has emerged in leaked photos. One of the likely stars of the shows looks bound to claim the title of the best equipped device in the Android realm.

The LG E973 Optimus G packs a killer spec sheet, which includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset with four 1.5 GHz CPU cores, 2GB of RAM, and Adreno 320 GPU. This is How LG puts up a "2nd generation quad-core" teaser site, talks a phone with Adreno 320 graphics in a video

Friday, 24 August 2012

LG puts up a
Alright, despite the Qualcomm claims that its quad-core APQ8064 chipset with "Krait" cores and Adreno 320 graphics processor is mainly for tablets, it is seemingly fit for smartphones as well, since the rumors of upcoming devices with the silicon are now reaching their peak.

After Qualcomm confirmed a quad-core LG phone with this Adreno 320 GPU is coming, now LG itself has also spilled the beans on the alleged Optimus G, putting a corporate teaser website up for the world to see. The first video is also up, but apart from the "S4 Pro", "Adreno 320 3x [faster]", and "40% CPU [performance increase]" international chipset terminology and graphics, we couldn't grasp much other details.

There are slots for five more videos on the website, though, so there will be some wait until LG takes the wrap off the rumored 4.7" quad-core beast with multimode LTE/HSPA+ radio, 2GB of RAM and 13MP camera.

Or, as Google Translate puts it: "Existing quad-core compared to more than 40 percent and improved CPU performance, more than three times the enhanced graphics, strongest LTE phone powered by Qualcomm's second-generation quad-core LG Electronics, which boasts the most power efficient for you soon find goes.

"Soon find goes" is what keeps us all wired up we'll see this for the holidays here. If anyone can translate from Korean, please chime in down below in the comments, although the main take is clear - specswise, we are waiting for one monster of a handset from LG.

Xiaomi M2 Launched Today-Here's some of the data[REVIEW]

Thursday, 16 August 2012

It’s been an exciting day for fans of Android phones as China’s Xiaomi have released not 1 but 2 fantastic phones! Keep reading for full details of the Xiaomi M2 the world’s fastest quad-core phone!
A lot of what was officially released this afternoon at the Xiaomi M2 launch conference was already known and reported by us in the past days and weeks! But it is nice to finally know just how good the quad-core Xiaomi M2 is! It is AWESOME!

xiaomi m2 quad core deisgn Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 Design

The design of the Xiaomi M2 was something I was personally worried about. We had rumors and photos suggest odd 2 tone phones, and designs which looked just like the Xiaomi M1 (which have actually turned out to be the Xiaomi M1s).
Thankfully though Beijing based Xiaomi have done us proud and wrapped the world’s fastest quad-core Android phone up in an extremely handsome body.
Fans of Chinese phones will already be pointing out the similarities between the M2 and Meizu’s 4-core MX, but rest assured that although the 2 phones look similar they are completely different beasts!
The Xiaomi M2 measures in at 126mm x 62mm x 10.2mm and weighs in at 145g. So while the M2 isn’t the thinnest or lightest Android phone on the planet it s certainly no porker either, and it very much is the fastest!
Like the Meizu MX the rear of the new Xiaomi phone is a glossy white plastic with an 8 mega-pixel rear camera sitting in the center with LED flash for night photos and a small speaker grill which should aid audio while capturing video.
The front of the Xiaomi M2 though is distinctly Xiaomi in design meaning there are no physical buttons on the face (there is a physical volume rocker and camera shutter button along the edge though).
Also new for Xiaomi is the front camera which is located in the top right hand corner above the screen (more on the cameras below).

xiaomi m2 performance 237x300 Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 performance

We already knew the Xiaomi M2 was going to be one powerful device as we had already seen these leaked benchmarks, but it was nice of Xiaomi to confirm our suspicions today.
The Xiaomi M2 is now officially the world’s fastest quad-core phone, which is pretty impressive for a company only on their 2nd device, and for a phone which only costs $313 (1999 Yuan)!
What’s giving the Xiaomi M2 it’s world class level of speed and performance is a combination of both hardware and software.
The CPU is a Qualcomm Snapdraggon 8064 CPU quad-core chip clocked at 1.5ghz, so it is like 2 of the original Xiaomi’s strapped together and then attached to a ballistic missile when it comes to processing power!
To prevent any lack of memory to the powerful CPU, Xiaomi have been extremely generous and have given the M2 a full 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.
This all adds up to a quad-core phone which is hugely powerful and capable of leaving other top of the range quad-core devices such as the HTC One X and Samsung Galaxy S3 spitting dust!
With all this power on tap you would be right in thinking the Xiaomi M2 will make for a very capable gaming phone with some who have tested the phone and are familiar with all the hardware suggesting the M2 is on par with the Xbox 360 thanks to the Adreno 320 graphics chip.

xiaomi m2 cameras 237x300 Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 Cameras

The M2 has 2 cameras this time which means you can take photos of your friends and also nice photos of yourself posing. In fact Xiaomi have really gone to town with the front camera which is a 2 mega-pixel unit capable of capturing 1080p HD video!
The rear camera on the M2 is also able to capture 1080 HD video, but is a much more capable 8 mega-pixel unit. While some might feel that 8 mega-pixel camera’s are a little last generation, Xiaomi have gone to great lengths to ensure the M2’s camera is the cream-de-la-cream of camera phones.
One of the highlights of the rear camera is that it features an f 2.0 apperture and is capable of shooting video at 90fps! The lens has also been improved to give better wide-angle ability.
According to those at the event the photos from the Xiaomi M2’s rear camera are absolutely stunning!

xiaomi m2 screen 234x300 Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 Screen

Not content with producing the fastest quad-core Android phone, Xiaomi have decided to give the M2 a very impressive 4.3 inch display!
How impressive? Well according to the specifications the screen on the M2 is much better than the retina display used in the current iPhone 4S and boasts a resolution of 1280 x 720 and 342PPI.

Other Xiaomi M2 Hardware highlights

The M2 also packs some other impressive features which we would feel lucky to find on an Android phone costing double it’s price.
Along with the usual smart phone features such as Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS, Xiaomi have also bundled in Bluetooth 4.o, Bluetooth, gyroscope, altitude pressure sensors, Dolby speakers, DC-HSPA + and intelligent dual antennas!
If you like your phones to have all the bells and whistles then the Xiaomi M2 is definitely looking like the quad-core Android phone for you!

xiaomi m2 android jelly bean 4.1 158x300 Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 Android Jelly Bean 4.1

Another awesome surprise is that the Xiaomi M2 is going to be China’s first ever Android 4.1 Jelly Bean phone, but this isn’t any ordinary Android Jelly Bean ROM, but instead the latest version of MIUI V4 based on Jelly Bean.
MIUI 4.0 Jelly Bean brings a ton of great features especially to users who really like to customise the look, feel and function of their phones.
One feature we really like is the “freestyle desktop” which you can set up work whichever way you like to access your home screens, with options to have them move left and right or up and down, then there are the many custom touch gestures to further optimise the feel and get it just right for you.

Xiaomi M2 Voice assistant

Many of the new MIUI 4.1 features seem to be a little Apple inspired, for example the new voice assistant on the M2 offers dictation and will follow commands much like Siri, however as the Xiaomi system is based on iFlytek’s voice recognition software it should work much better for Chinese speakers.

Xiaomi M2 Cloud Storage

Again like Apple and their iCould service Xiaomi have included their MiDrive software which allows users to back up or store, photos, files and apps in the cloud!

Xiaomi Wifi Streaming

This is a great function and one I’m really excited about especially with the Xiaomi M2’s great gaming performance.
Wi-fi streaming does exactly what you would expect and streams content, photos, music, videos and games from your M2 to your Android enabled smart TV which is great as it doesn’t require additional hardware to work!

xiaomi m2 price where to buy launch date 243x300 Xiaomi M2 launched today! Here is everything you need to know!Xiaomi M2 Price and availability

The good news is the Xiaomi M2 is not only the world’s fastest quad-core phone but it is also one of the cheapest at only $313 or 1999 Yuan, the bad news however is the M2 won’t be available until October this year and there has been no announcement yet if there will be an international release!
I think that pretty much covers most of the important points that were brought up at today’s Xiaomi M2 launch, if I’ve missed anything please feel free to let me know in the comments section below.
Also, what do you guy’s think? Are you tempted by the M2 and it’s low cost quad-core goodness?
