Pantech Make the No. 6 Official; 5.9-inches of Full HD

Monday, 28 January 2013

Pantech-Vega-No.-6-4Two things are going to be happening throughout 2013: devices are going to get ever larger and we’re going to see more and more pixels packed into our mobile displays. 1080p was super-shiny and new only a few months ago but now, it looks like it’s fast becoming old news with everyone getting in on the Full HD game. Now, it’s Pantech’s turn to show the world their 1080p offering to the world and its a little different from everything else we’ve seen so far; the Pantech Vega No.6.
You might know Pantech as a brand of smartphones on AT&T but while the smartphones on Ma Bell aren’t spectacular in South Korea, they produce some stunning devices and with the Vega No. 6 they’re pushing the boundaries of not only size but, screen resolution. Pantech’s latest phone comes in at 5.9-inches and packs in that all important resolution of 1920 x 1080 – one of the first phones to do so at this sort of size. Take a look at the full specs below:
  • 5.9-inch IPS LCD panel with 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU
  • 2 GB of RAM
  • 32 GB of on-board storage with MicroSDXC support up to a crazy 2 TB
  • Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean with Pantech’s Flux UX
  • 13 MP rear-facing camera with 2 MP front-facing camera
  • 4G LTE
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n
  • Bluetooth 4.0, NFC
  • 3,140 mAh battery
  • 158.6 x 83.2 x 9.9 mm dimensions
  • 209 grams weight

Looking at the spec sheet alone, it looks like Pantech has enough to keep up with its competitors in the 1080p game but, as we head into 2013, keeping up isn’t going to be good enough. After all, the Galaxy S IV and HTC M7 are upcoming devices that should hopefully have some better specs aside from that brilliant screen resolution. Having said that, the Vega No. 6 does have a few things going for it, in that it has excellent support for external storage and it’s one of the first phones beyond 5-inches to pack in a resolution above 720p.

It’s clear that Pantech is looking to rely on size to sell its latest handset but, will that be enough for the South Korean manufacturer? As with a lot of phones out of Asia, we have no idea whether or not this will make it to the U.S. or anywhere else for that matter. Often, Pantech devices have ended up on AT&T but with the popularity of the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II it’d be hard for the carrier to sell two massive devices like this.

News : The Quad Core Xperia Tablet "Z" featuring awesome specs.

Sunday, 20 January 2013

Sony’s latest Android tablet features a 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and a 1920 x 1200 pixel display. The Sony Xperia Tablet Z also packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, and an 8MP camera.
In other words, it’s a pretty big upgrade over the Sony Xperia Tablet S, which the company launched less than half a year ago.

The new tablet also features a waterproof and dustproof case, a microSD card slot for extra storage, NFC, and support for 4G LTE.
The Android 4.1 tablet measures just 0.27 inches thick and weighs 1.1 pounds. Unlike Sony’s earlier Android tablets, which had 9.4 inch screen, the Xperia Table Z has a 10.1 inch display, which makes the size and weight even more impressive.
Sony hasn’t yet announced the price or release date for the new tablet, but with the Xperia Tablet S still selling for about $400 even though it has a slower processor, less memory, and a lower resolution display, I wouldn’t expect the Sony Xperia Tablet Z to be a low-cost tablet.

News:LG announces world’s first FullHD smartphone display with a pixel density of 440ppi

Monday, 28 May 2012

LG has created a new display for the ever evolving smartphone that involves packing in 1920 x 1080 pixels in just 5-inches of display space. This is the world’s first FullHD smartphone display and has a pixel density of an astonishing 440ppi, way ahead of what we currently have in our phones.
The panel used in the display is an Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching or AH-IPS LCD. This is the same technology that LG used in one of its panels last year for which they also won an award. Compared to standard IPS panels, AH-IPS panels have greater color accuracy, wider viewing angles and greater light transmission which leads to lower power consumption.
This 5-inch FullHD panel will be released in the second half of this year and should hopefully be the norm in next year’s high-end smartphones.
