News : Nexus 10 Back In Stock On The U.S. Play Store (For Now) In Both 16GB And 32GB Flavors

Like riding a roller coaster, it seems like ordering Nexus devices from the Play Store is full of its ups and downs. Today, it's up! At least, for the 16GB and 32GB Nexus 10 for U.S. customers. The two tablets have just gone back in stock via Google's storefront. There is even an encouraging "Ships in less than one week" disclaimer. Ordering seems to be working flawlessly at the moment, though, there isn't a huge rush right now. Still, if you're looking to get one, this would be a good time.

As you probably already know, the 16GB costs $399 and 32GB costs $499. Customers will be told that they will not be charged until their orders have shipped, however it looks like pending charges may still appear on your account, so be careful if you're planning to order with cards that do not have funds available yet.

Just days after the latest Google Nexus products hit the streets, a couple of repair shops have taken apart the Nexus 4 smartphone and Nexus 10 tablet to see what lies beneath the surface. And they’ve posted teardown guides online.

The Google Nexus 4 features a 4.7 inch screen, a quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front camera, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and HSPA+.
But iFixit found something else hidden in the case: a 4G LTE chip.
The Nexus 4 has taken a fair share of criticism for not supporting LTE, but it looks like manufacturer LG actually left in the same wireless chip used in its Optimus G smartphone. Unfortunately it may not be connected to an antenna or power amplifier, so it’d take more than a software update to enable LTE.
Overall, iFixit gives the device a fairly high repairability score since it’s not that difficult to disassemble. But replacing the battery or screen will be more difficult than on some other phones.

The folks at Powerbook Medic report that the Nexus 10 is pretty easy to take apart — provided you have the proper tools, including a flat tool that you can use to pry open the case without damaging it.

Like most tablets, the Nexus 10 is primarily screen and battery on the inside. I’m always a little surprised at how small the system board is, until I remember that this sort of tablet basically has the same guts as a modern smartphone… but a larger battery to help power the larger display.

The new Samsung-made Nexus 10 uses the next-generation Exynos chipset - an Exynos 5 with two Cortex-A15 cores at 1.7GHz and Mali-604 GPU (the same chipset as the new Chromebook).
So, rumors that the next Samsung Galaxy S IV will use an Exynos 5 chipset should come as no surprise, but the rumor is dreaming bigger than we would have thought. It points to the Exynos 5450 - with a quad-core A15 processor, clocked at 2GHz and a beefier Mali-658 GPU.


We already saw early benchmarks of the 604 (which is a quad-core GPU), so the 658 should be wipe the floor with current GPUs (it's an octa-core GPU). We have yet to see Cortex-A15 benchmarks but it should easily top Krait's per-core performance.
Now, there's a bit of a problem - power usage. With four Cortex-A15 cores and eight GPU cores, even a big battery would be drained pretty quickly. The Exynos 5450 will be made on a 28nm process (instead of 32nm as the Exynos 5250) and the CPU will probably be downclocked to at least 1.7GHz, but even then battery might be an issue.
Anyway, we wouldn't be surprised to see an Exynos 5250 inside next year's Galaxy S flagship, but the 5450 - as awesome as it would be - might be be too much to ask so don't get your hopes too high.

Samsung announces Exynos 5 Dual, world’s first Cortex A15 based SoC

The wait for the next generation Cortex A15-based processors is coming to an end as Samsung has just announced the world’s first SoC that will include a Cortex A15 CPU. Called the Exynos 5 Dual, this SoC has one laundry list of specifications that goes well beyond what other mobile processors offer currently and sets the stage for the next generation mobile devices.


The Exynos 5 Dual or the 5250 is based on the 32nm HKMG process, same as the current Exynos 4 Quad processor. It includes the new dual-core 1.7GHz Cortex A15 CPU along with a brand new Mali-T604 GPU, which is also produced by ARM. Along with being faster than the current Mali-400 MP, T604 also adds support for OpenGL ES 3.0, OpenVG 1.1, OpenCL 1.1 and DirectX 11, which makes it perfectly suitable for Windows RT tablets. The new GPU also allows the processor to extend the maximum display resolution support to 2,560 x 1,600.
Other features include support for USB 3.0, SATA III controllers, decoding and encoding 1080p60 videos, 800MHz LPDDR3 RAM, 12.8GB/s memory bandwidth, HDMI 1.4 , WI-Fi display and a lot more.
Currently Samsung hasn’t announced any product that will be running on this processor but it is being said that they will be releasing a tablet later this year which will make full use of this processor.
